Chook Census 2011

Since the snowflakes were interested in the Census, we learned a little about that this week. We looked through all the questions and thought about what the government could do with the information collected. We had a look at the promotional site and found out lots of statistics about our area and demographics.

We conducted a Chook Census in which our intrepid census collector was able to gather the following information:
  • Number of chooks in each of the three pens
  • Number of males and females
  • Numbers of mature and immature chooks
  • Names of chooks, and how many are unnamed
  • Colours of chooks
  • Pecking order ranks
  • Occupation (egglayer, trainee egglayer, authorised cockadoodler or freeloader-to-be-roasted)
The data gathered can be used to allocate chookfood, predict egg production, and plan for future hatching/dispatching.
