So many "special days"

I love the way the snowflakes are so delighted to celebrate anything and everything! (Not for them the musing about whether it's appropriate to mix Christian and neo-Pagan festivals, or whether it's right to do things at the 'wrong' time of the year.)

Not wanting to waste all those technicolour eggshells from our Easter eggs, we dried them out and crushed them to use for collages. This was a fun activity for all the children to do together, and one they had been wanting to try for a while, since they saw it on the walls of our library. (The glue we had wasn't quite suitable, however we found some hitherto long forgotten Contact which stopped the artworks from falling to pieces.) Here's the Rainbow Fish picture:

Meanwhile, we held Samhain a week or so late (since we had visitors who don't celebrate it staying with us on the actual day). We had our usual feast, special stories, toasted marshmallows and so on. Here is our lovely turnip jack o' lantern that I carved, with much supervision and backseat driving from all of the snowflakes. I was so darn impressed by how well he turned out that we ended up lighting him again the next night.
