A glimpse into the very ordinary but also very magical journey of a home schooling family in Tasmania's lovely Huon Valley. Mummy Snow, Daddy Snow and the three Snowflakes take a relaxed, eclectic, secular, seasonal approach to learning, with influence from the neo-classical, Steiner, and unschooling styles.

Critters
Ah, critters... Our place abounds with them, so I'm thankful that nobody here is frightened of creepy crawlies. On the contrary, the snowflakes all relish the chance to discover some new insect, arachnid or what-have-you to observe, and they are quite adept at capturing them in containers so that the subjects don't get loved to death and, in the case of venomous critters, the snowflakes don't get bitten or stung.
Strangely, I have lived in Tasmania for almost all my life without ever learning the names of most of the mini beasts that are found here, so it's interesting trying to identify them with the snowflakes. One helpful resource is the What Bug is That site, which gives overviews of insect families in Australia, but I'd love to know about others.
